CST Module 4 January 29th - February 4th

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals

My educational goal is to acquire my bachelors degree. In order to achieve this goal I just need to keep doing what i'm doing, reading the materials and turning in my work before their due dates. I feel confident that as long as I am able to keep this up, once we reach the programming aspect of this CS program, this goal is within reach.

Part Two: Set Your Career Goals

My career goal is to eventually to lead software development. One of my prior short term career goal was to work as a full stack software engineer which I have been fortunate enough to have started doing on January of 2025. From here I plan to build the necessary skill to develop a program from the ground up and learn the necessary project management skills to lead a team.

Part Three: Take a wild guess of your percentile of the ETS Computer Science test

After looking at the ETS Computer Science test, I realized that although I know most of the concepts I still did pretty bad on the testing. I believe in 18 months from now, assuming we go over most of the concepts on the test, i'd still likely score low but I don't believe it'll affect my actual ability to perform as a software engineer.

Part Four: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

From this week's reading, we went over what the ETS Computer Science test is, i'm not sure if it's going to be something we have to take in order to get our degree or not but it's definitely something i'm going to look further into if thats the case. We also went over personal and career goals and how to envision and take the necessary steps in order to achieve those goals. For this week we also had to create an outline draft for our ethics argument essay which was the most challenging part for me. I'm still fairly new to the APA format so i'm likely still going to struggle on how to reference correctly. We also had a group activity which I found enlightening and fun, we got to learn about each other with 2 truth and 1 lie, went over our strength and weaknesses, and our preferred roles.

  1. Hey Neng,
I too feel confident in my ability to complete the CS program so long as I put in the effort and turn in all assignments. I'm glad you have a head start in working in the field already. I have a chance to get a head start at my current job, which employs engineers to make sure the packaging machines run correctly. I think I might look into working with them. Good luck on all y(our) work!

  2. Hey Neng, It's awesome to see you getting a head start in your career already! You and I have similar end goals so it's cool to see one of my own teammates already getting ahead in the game. And from the looks of it you're already setting yourself up for a great future, nothing but props from me! Keep it up, lets get this degree!

  3. Since you're looking forward to the programming aspects of the program, consider doing coding challenges like LeetCode to work on your skills for the coursework. Keep up with the work of completing the modules to get the degree!
